Let’s get the money out of politics

17 Aug

The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision re-wrote the nation’s campaign finance laws to allow unlimited corporate spending in elections. Now, corporate front groups are growing in size and influence. Their secret funders remain in the shadows.

The American public should know who is funding election-season campaigns. Use the form below to tell your members of Congress to support the DISCLOSE Act (S. 3628).

This legislation provides full disclosure of corporate, union, and wealthy funding sources behind political advertising, extends the disclosure window to cover most of an election period, and tightens restrictions on political ads by government contractors and foreign entities.

Type your zip code into the box below. Use the form that appears to tell your member of Congress to support the DISCLOSE Act today.

Please type your zip code into the box below. Then take a moment to add your own words to the email message that appears. This greatly increases the likelihood that your message will make a difference. You can also ask your senators to support the DISCLOSE Act by phone by calling the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Let us know how it goes with an email to action (at) citizen (dot) org!
